Residents and visitors to Woodbridge in Virginia, US, have recently received a big dose of South African art. A large-scale, site specific artwork by local impressionist artist Kilmany-Jo Liversage, were commissioned by Spier Architectural Arts on behalf of Nando’s Peri-Peri for their newly opened restaurant in Potomac Town Place, Woodbridge.
Kilmany-Jo travelled to the Woodbridge location where she spent 10 days on site to execute the graffiti-style artwork using aerosol spray and acrylic paint on board. Measuring a colossal 6m x 5.2m, the artwork is visible on the facade and also from the interior of the restaurant, and is characteristic of Kilmany-Jo’s vibrant representation of portraits and urban scenes.
The Woodbridge Graffiti marks the second large-scale artwork by Kilmany-Jo in the US. The first was Washington Graffiti for Nandos Bethesda Row, and can be viewed.
